I wore the Eagle Creek UnderCover Security Belt while traveling in Nepal, unfortunately while I was trekking on foot, I was stopped by mountain bandits. Since most of them are very smart and exhibiting knowledge, they searched me and I had to remove all my clothes, whereas they discovered the Eagle Creek UnderCover Security Belt.
So, it doesn’t always work.
In cases like that, you’re better off trying to “hide” money by sewing double pockets into dirty old socks or befouled underpants and using brown or red paint to simulate a “mess” to keep bandits away from snooping any closer. I also hid my money in an old tree bark inside a plastic jug where I kept a poisonous snake I found, bandits stopped me a few times but didn’t dare to bother the poisonous snake.
In India I had a local taxidermist (Taxidermy is the art of mounting or reproducing dead animals for display or for other sources of study) clean and stuff a dead rat I had found and he made me a dead rat “wallet” in which I hid my money. It worked very well until it was stolen by a hungry, feral cat.
Or you can read Papillon to see where French penal colony prisoners hid their money.
The Eagle Creek UnderCover Security Belt is really for the tourist, but it doesn’t always work, especially if you are naked, as is the custom in hot tropic climates.

Wore this for six weeks first time abroad. Not only is this uncomfortable, but you feel and look like an idiot. Dont listen to the boogie stories about traveling abroad. This item is not necessary. Be smart, dont stick out like someone who has a passport and 500euros in their pocket, and you will be fine. There is more petty crime in the US than most countries, so if you feel comfortable in the states, you dont need this.

This promises what you get… I bought this bag to travel around the world, it seems to be very resistent and made with good materials, I will let you know how does it lasts during the trip.

The product itself is ok but it contains an antimicrobial additive. The origin of this additive is not indicated on the packaging so there is no way to know if it represents a potential health hazard. Better safe than sorry.
