In September 2011, an international group of scientists has made an astonishing claim — they have detected particles that seemed to travel faster than the speed of light. It was a claim that contradicted more than a hundred years of scientific orthodoxy. Suddenly there was talk of all kinds of bizarre concepts, from time travel [...]

23 September 2011 Last updated at 10:55 Puzzling results from Cern, home of the Large Hadron Collider, have confounded physicists – because it seems subatomic particles have beaten the speed of light. Neutrinos sent through the ground from Cern toward the Gran Sasso laboratory 732km (454 miles) away in Italy seemed to show up a [...]

My Optics lecturer said something about how since light travels in a vacuum, you could, potentially, have something travel faster in a different medium, one other than a vacuum.
True or false?

I’m interested in knowing why isn’t possible to travel at the speed of light. I know something changes dramatically and I wanted to know specifaclly what would happen to a human travelling at that speed.
Thanx a lot!
How could traveling the speed of light lead us to time travel?

In a question, someone answered that if we were able to travel the speed of light, then we could somehow achieve time travel. How would this happen?
Also, how could we make time travel possible? Is there some formula to it? I think time travel is a really awesome concept, and I want to learn [...]
